About Us

Come Join Our Swimming Class

In 1974, Karl Dalhouse and a dedicated group of swimmers and parents founded the Y’Speedos Swim Club. What began as a small initiative to support young swimmers has grown into one of Jamaica’s premier swim clubs. Over the years, Y’Speedos has produced Olympians like Allan Roy Marsh, Gordon Scarlett, and Alia Atkinson, while giving countless young athletes the opportunity to compete internationally.

More about our Journey

Y’Speedos Swim Club has been affiliated with the Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) from its inception in 1974.  The first group of swimmers swam as the YMCA Swim Team.  Notably , the Club involved out of the involvement of its founding members’ work with the YMCA and its swim programme.  As the Club evolved, its constitution was formalized and it was mandated that every member of the Y’Speedos Swim Club be a member of the Kingston YMCA.

Y’Speedos is about more than just elite competition. From the start, our swimmers have gained valuable experience at top events like the ISCA Summer Elite Showcase and ISCA Summer Senior Blast held in St. Petersburg, Florida USA, building both skill and confidence. A highlight of our year is the Karl Dalhouse Memorial Swim Meet, which honours our founder and brings together swimmers from around the globe.

Today, with over 80 swimmers, Y’Speedos continues to foster a supportive, family-oriented environment where athletes of all levels thrive.
